Collaborating with Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology, Qualcomm held the Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan Challenge ("QITC"). The shortlisted teams of the QITC will receive not only monetary grants but also consultation support and engineering resources necessary for product development testing. Qualcomm further set up special training courses on intellectual property to encourage the shortlisted teams to apply for patents in order to protect their intellectual property rights. Mr. Al Tung, the General Manager of Formosan Brothers' Patent Department, was much honored to be a lecturer for the QITC IP training workshops. On July 29, 2019, he presented on the "Introduction to Patent Rights Systems" to the shortlisted teams based on his vast experience in patent practices. He guided the winning teams from reading patent descriptions and patent announcements to understanding the various types and scopes of patent applications, and further explained judgments and myths regarding patent ownership and patent infringement. His presentation allowed the shortlisted teams to have a deeper understanding of patent filing. The Q & A at the end induced a lively discussion among the participants.
